Within the framework of the project «Large-scale privatization of prisons», a press tour to the Lviv colony No. 48 for media representatives was held

During the tour of the colony, representatives of regional media received constructive answers to questions about the privatization of non-operating assets of the penitentiary service within the framework of a joint project of the State Property Fund and the Ministry of Justice «Large-scale privatization of prisons». One of the first objects of this project is the privatization of Lviv Correctional Colony No. 48 (bit.ly/3blnOtw and bit.ly/3w0vlGh).

«We have two lots. One of them is a very large land plot on which our property is located. We expect that investors will be interested in such an object, which is located in the city. The second lot is a small object. It can also be useful to someone who has a business and expects to either expand it or develop something for himself at this facility,»- Olena Vysotska, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine, says.

For his part, Vladyslav Kalynets, Head of the Regional Office of the State Property Fund, emphasized the inappropriate placement of such objects within residential area of the city.

«An important goal achieved by the privatization of this object is to transfer penal institutions from the boundaries of the residential areas of cities to the periphery,»-Vladyslav Kalynets explained.

According to Mykola Hanych, Deputy Director of the Department of Communications and Marketing of the State Property Fund, thus, the main goal of the privatization, determined by the team of the State Property Fund headed by Dmytro Sennychenko, is being implemented: turning unproductive assets into productive ones.

«The privatization of this object is an attraction of investments in the creation of a productive asset in the residential area of the city, it is also the creation of new jobs for the local community, and also a financial resource for building a modern penitentiary institution outside the city,»-  Mykola Hanych stated.
