The “Ukraine-Kazakhstan-Russia Private Joint Stock Company on nuclear fuel production” (UKRTVS Co.) is the legal successor of all rights and obligations of the “Ukraine-Kazakhstan-Russia Close Joint Stock Company on nuclear fuel production”. It was established in 2001 in accordance with decisions of the governments of Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan on the initiative of the Ukrainian side to diversify nuclear fuel supplies.
The founders of UKRTVS Co. are the State Property Fund of Ukraine, Open Joint Stock Company “TVEL” - OJSC “TVEL” (Russia) and the Joint-Stock Company “National Atomic Company Kazatomprom” - NJSC Kazatomprom (Kazakhstan) in equal shares.
UKRTVS Co. was founded with goal of the production of competitive nuclear fuel for reactors VVER-1000 of NPP of Ukraine. It was assumed that Kazakhstan would produce fuel pellets; Ukraine would be provide a zirconium rolling and produce of components for fuel elements and fuel bundles, and Russia would carry out the final assembly of fuel elements and fuel bundles.
Instead, the stated goals have not been achieved; nuclear fuel production has not been established.
