State assets with an area of 200 stadiums like the NSC “Olympiyskiy” are not used today, or in the shadow lease - Konstiantyn Koshelenko

Deputy Chairman of the State Property Fund of Ukraine Kostiantyn Koshelenko spoke about the need to accelerate the pace of privatization in the autho’s column for the Levyy Bereg weekly, “Efficiency to the maximum: how the State Property Fund plans to accelerate privatization” (https://bit.ly/3yEsDaR).

According to him, the State Property Fund has initiated a project called “Large Inventory of the Country”, which aims to identify and transfer for transparent privatization of all non-core state assets.

“Currently, the Fund’s regional offices conduct a constant audit of the use of state-owned objects to identify non-core state assets. The task is quite large, so we also enlisted the support of central and local authorities,” said Kostiantyn Koshelenko.

In the column, he noted, in particular, that the results of the global audit of state-owned facilities had already revealed that about 28 million square meters of state-owned premises are not used at all or are leased in the shadows.

“To understand the scale of the problem, you can image stadiums like the NSC “Olympiyskiy”, or Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv or Kamianets-Podilskyi town, this area is not just empty, but also generates additional losses,” - said Konstiantyn Koshelenko.

In his column, the Deputy Chairman of the Fund also emphasizes that ordinary citizens, entrepreneurs or even entire enterprises, can initiate the inclusion of non-core assets of various authorities in the privatization.

“If you see an abandoned building or workshop that can help grow your business, you can apply to be privatized the state ownership and win transparent online auctions. This simple process consists of 3 steps, each of which is described in detail on the website privatization.gov.ua,” said Konstiantyn Koshelenko.
